Silver Couple, Birthday Girls and Amazing Achievement

Silver Couple
We send warmest congratulations to local couple Sean and Jackie O Brien, Lahardan who recently celebrated 25 years of wedded bliss. The couple celebrated their special occasion together with a couple of days away where I am sure Sean treated his beautiful bride to some fine wine and dining. I have no doubt in the world that this popular couple will share many more happy years together.

Birthday Girls
The very popular Mary Power of Adamstown was the lady of the moment recently as she celebrated her 50th birthday. It’s very hard to believe that this young lady is 50 years old as she looks and acts more like a 21 year old. I know that Mary really enjoyed her day and the days after it I might add, knowing Mary she will pull a good year out of this one. I’m sure Mary was spoiled rotten by husband Jimmy, her daughter Rachael and her son Gavin. We wish Mary many more happy and healthy years and many more happy birthdays.
Also celebrating her 50th birthday this week was my own sister Theresa. We celebrated together as a family from a social distance of course and she was treated to a nice relaxing weekend by daughter Freya and son Eli. I can’t believe I now have three siblings in their fifties so I guess my brother Neil and I will have to keep up the youthful side of the family. We look forward to celebrating many more happy birthdays with Theresa.

Ballyduff GAA

Due to the Covid restrictions our coaches are not allowed make their usual visits to our national school but they have come up with another plan. In partnership with Deise Og and Ballyduff NS they are providing some after school training in their pitch. The boys and girls from 1st, 2nd and 3rd classes can enjoy some great fun on Wednesdays from 3.15pm to 4.25pm. A big thank you to Dermot and Alan who represented the club along with John and Paudie from Deise Og.
A big thank you to Gerard Barron from Furniture by Penn for his generous sponsorship of all the training equipment for the clubs ladies group which takes place on Friday evenings. Without the generous support of local businesses the club would be lost so please support these businesses as much as you can.
The U10 footballers had two great wins over Erins Own and Portlaw recently with some lovely scores and defensive play. Great thanks must go to the coaches who put in such hard work and also to the parents who provide such brilliant support.
The U13 footballers put on a great display against Ballinacourty with a final scoreline of 3-8 to 3-6. This was a rip roaring game.
The U10 hurlers gave a superb performance against Na Gael in Dunhill. Na Gael fought hard but there was no stopping the Ballyduff boys who must be congratulated on a brilliant performance.
The clubs Lgfa girls are going from strength to strength with great fun being had by the U8 and U10 groups in Kildermody recently at their Lgfa blitz. A big thank you to older members Anna, Alana, Roisin, Kate and Grace for taking the role of referee. Great to see such a great interest in the sport
We will be cheering on our U16 ladies in spirit only unfortunately on October 4th as they hope to bring home another County Final win.
The club would like to thank Ronan Dunphy from the adult section of the club who came along to the field on Saturday morning to meet the young people of the club and impart some of his knowledge on them. Thank you to Sean for organising this which is a wonderful way for the young people to see the progression within the club and see that hard work and practice is very worth while. These visits will continue over the year and we thank the lads for giving up their free time to visit

Amazing Achievement

We send congratulations to local lady Maria Smith and all her staff at Aura Skin and Laser clinic who recently received a Client Experience Award in the Phorest Salon Software Awards. This is actually their 5th year winning this award which places them in an elite group of businesses. This is a wonderful boost for any business at any time but especially during this particularly challenging year. I’m sure they will celebrate their achievement as best as they can and we wish Maria and her staff continued success
