A Fond Farewell, The Martians Are Coming and Summit Success

A FOND FAREWELL.

It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to Andrew Bridgett from Kilmeaden Pharmacy. Andrew has been in the pharmacy business for 30 years and has spent the past number of years as the very popular pharmacist here in Kilmeaden. Andrew had a wonderful way with the public and had a vast knowledge of all things medical. He was always on hand to give advice and consultation no matter how busy he was. Everyone was received and welcomed to his pharmacy and everyone was treated to the same respect and dignity. During Covid times Andrew and his staff made sure that nobody went without their medicine and prescriptions. He was also a great supporter of all things local and was always ready to donate hampers and gifts as spot prizes. People developed a lovely relationship with Andrew, knowing they could trust him and that he always had their best interest at heart. In fact the one saying I heard many times was “He’s as good as any Doctor”. Andrew will pursue other interests and I have no doubt that we may see him around from time to time. We thank him for his many years of dedicated service to our community for his loyalty, respectfulness and sincerity and we hope that the future will be full of happiness.

BALLYGUNNER STALWART

What great excitement after Ballygunner beat Ballyhale Shamrocks and everyone enjoyed what a great and exciting game of hurling it was. However one local man here in Kilmeaden, Michael Hearn, Kildermody travelled with great anticipation  to the game accompanied by his Grandson Rian. This was a very proud day for Michael and was made all the sweeter by having Rian with him. Michael was part of the Ballygunner team who brought home the first three in a row in 1966,67 and 68. In 1966 and 1968 they beat Mount Sion and it was Portlaw/ Ballyduff in 1967. He also served as Secretary of the club at that time too. Of course at that time Ballygunner didn’t even have a pitch and hurling was a great distraction for them all. Michael played in the half back position and in fact in that 1967 final he marked the late great Tom Cheasty. I have no doubt that Michael was full of pride as Harry Ruddle put that sliotar in the back of the net and that final whistle blew and Ballygunner brought the title back home. Having his Grandson Rian beside him who is himself a very keen hurler must have been very special and I’m sure Michael raised a glass or two to celebrate and I’m sure he treated everyone to a song or two also. Michael and some of his former teammates were invited to Ballygunner NS as they welcomed the victorious team home and I’m sure there were plenty of stories regaled on the day.

MARK YOUR DIARY

The Kilmeaden Vintage Tractor Club hosts a very popular tractor run each year and this is much looked forward to. The club has raised a fantastic amount of money over the years for charity and they hope to do so again this year. Pieta House is this year’s chosen charity. We all know what wonderful work Pieta House does for so many families. Unfortunately we have all known someone who has found themselves in a dark desperate place where they can’t see that light of hope. We have seen the devastation a death through suicide can leave behind and we can only hope that we never find ourselves in such a situation. It is important therefore that we support each other and make sure that every help and support is in place for those who need it. Mark Sunday July 24th in your diaries and enjoy a wonderful day of fun at the Kilmeaden Vintage Tractor Run while supporting the great Pieta House .

SUMMIT SUCCESS

On Saturday April 9th, The Marker Hotel in Dublin will play host to Ireland’s first ever Health at every Size summit and our very own local lass Sandra O Keeffe has been invited to present at this summit. Sandra has studied and worked in this area and is very passionate about challenging the critical, weight centered and body shaming culture that exists today. Her goal is to help clients finally find peace with their relationship with food and to develop a self-compassionate, caring and embodied  relationship with themselves. The HAES Summit will take place on Saturday April 9th in The Marker Hotel, Dublin from 2pm to 6pm. The host on the day will be Sile Seoige and tickets cost €85
I have the honour of knowing Sandra for many years and I can honestly say that hand on heart I am truly delighted to see her excel in the area she is so dedicated and passionate about. She has worked so hard to get where she is today and through all the hard study days and through the sacrifices she had to make she remained excited and committed to her thoughts and beliefs. I am so very proud of this girl who is beautiful inside and out and I know that her partner Anthony will be so proud as her family Christy, Vera, Damien, Elaine and Edel and the extended family will be.

THOUGHT OF THE WEEK.

Sometimes you will need to stop doing for others
And take care of yourself.
That is not selfish
It is necessary
You can’t pour from an empty cup.
Remember that.

From a young age Ballyduff GAA encourage the young boys and girls to play to their best ability and to have fun.

AWARD SUCCESS

The GAA President awards affords the President the opportunity to acknowledge outstanding commitment and long service across the club and county network. The 11 awards are a cross section of people who have made an inspirational impact on their club and community. The awards are made on a provincial basis, and I am delighted to say that for the Munster region the deserving winner was our very own Fiona Crotty Laffan. A native of the beautiful Ballymacarbry, Fiona’s list of honours include U14, U16 and Minor All Ireland titles, All Star Award and she holds the record for winning four All Ireland titles in Ladies Gaelic Football in one year. These accolades alone would win this award, but Fiona has now become a role model for young girls and will continue this great work as she manages the Waterford U14 panel.
We are very lucky here in Ballyduff that local man Billy Laffan caught her eye, and she chose here to build their home and raise their children. Fiona has become very involved in our local club and she has helped so many local girls build their confidence and believe in their abilities. Her love and joy for the sport is infectious. Having enjoyed such great success, she could have just stepped away, but she wanted to make sure that young girls had the opportunity to fall in love with a game like she did. She wanted them to see that hard work and dedication really pays off and that opportunities come knocking
I have no doubt at all that the Crotty and Laffan families are very proud as well as her native Ballymacarbry and her adopted Ballyduff Lower Clubs and the late, great John Crotty beams from the heavens above. He went to every training session, travelled to every game and now enjoys a bird’s eye view of his little girl doing what she loves and now passing on her advice to the next generation.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

We join in prayer with our neighbours in Portlaw and Newtown who recently mourned the lost of two men in tragic circumstances. My mind has been racing all week thinking of their families left behind and praying that anyone out there who finds themselves in a dark place will find the courage and the strength to ask for help and to reach for that light and may we all recognise the signs of someone who may need to talk to someone or simply just be listened to. We all deserve the kindness of others, and we all need help sometimes. Be kind to yourself and to others.
“Sometimes the strongest among us, are the ones who smile
Through silent pain, cry behind closed doors and fight battles
Nobody knows about”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Take chances, make mistakes.
That’s how you grow
Pain nourishes your courage
You have to fail
In order to practice being brave

Death of Mary O’Brien, Church News and Special Lady

DEATH OF MARY O BRIEN

We were all very saddened to hear of the death of Mary O Brien, Ballyduff Village. Mary and her husband Tommy have been a central part of the village for many years. Mary lived her life quietly, rearing her family and what a mother she was. She was so proud of all her family and loved celebrating their successes with them and all the occasions in their lives. I have always admired their closeness as a family, and this has all happened because of the example given to them by their parents. Family was everything to Mary and she welcomed every new member with open arms and took great pleasure in watching them grow up.
She had a wonderful love of music and had many requests sent in for her into John O Shea’s radio programme. I would often picture in my mind herself and Tommy taking a twirl around the kitchen to John’s choice of song. A lady of great style she could carry off any outfit. I was amazed looking at a recent photo of Mary attending her daughter Sally’s wedding. She looked a million dollars in her gorgeous blue dress with matching shoes. She looked like she had just walked off a film set.
Mary is survived by her beloved husband Tommy with whom she shared a lifetime of love and happiness, her devoted children Michael, Thomas, John, Joe, Ricky, Jacqueline, Kay, Mary Lou, Christina, Sally and Barbara, her sister Chrissie, grandchildren, great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law and many friends and neighbours.
Mary’s funeral mass took place in St. Nicholas’s Church, Ballyduff followed by private cremation. Mary will be greatly missed not only by her loving family but by the community. She has left a lasting impression on all she met, and we pray that she now enjoys the peace and love of Christ. We hope that her family will find comfort in the wonderful memories they have of their Mother and that her good deeds here on earth will be rewarded in heaven . May her sweet, gentle soul now rest in peace.

WINNING ATTRACTION

Congratulations to all involved in Waterford Greenway on taking home The Best Visitor Attraction Prize from the Irish Independent reader travel awards. On June 23rd they will receive the sacrament in Ballyduff church at two separate ceremonies, the first at 2pm and the other at 4pm. This is to cater for the large number of children. Due to Covid for the past few years the bishop has only attended a small few of Confirmation ceremonies. This year he has decided to do all the ceremonies himself during the months of May and June.

BIRTHDAY GIRLS

We send our warmest birthday wishes to popular lady Majella McGrath from Ballygarron who recently celebrated her 50th birthday. I am sure that her Dad and brother Trevor made sure she marked the day in style. I hope that this wonderful lady with a heart of gold enjoyed her special day.
Another popular lady celebrated a milestone birthday. Lizzie O Brien turned 40 with her husband Joe, and children Shannon and Shane making sure she was treated to a great birthday celebration.

BALLYDUFF AFC

Sophie has played for Ballyduff for a few years and will be greatly missed but the club wish her the very best for the future and look forward to watching her go from strength to strength.

ANY IDEAS?

Before Covid I had started to make some enquiries about the possibility of starting a Men’s Shed in the Ballyduff and Kilmeaden area. There are many retired men, widowed men etc who are still extremely active and have wonderful talents and skills to share. A suitable premises would have to be found so do you know of any or have you got somewhere that would suit? Do you think a Men’s Shed would be popular? I would love your feedback on 087 9838392 or spillanelinda2017@gmail.com

BALLYDUFF GAA

The club are delighted to welcome back the ladies fun group back to the pitch. The feedback from last year was very positive so if you would like to exercise with no pressure while having a good laugh then drop along to the GAA pitch on Fridays at 7.30pm

SPECIAL LADY

Mrs. Nancy Aulsberry has been my neighbour all my life but in recent years her failing eyesight necessitated her move to the care of the Little Sisters of the Poor in Ferrybank where she is very happy and is receiving fantastic care. I was delighted to hear that Mrs. Aulsberry recently celebrated her 93rd birthday. It is brilliant to hear that she is in such good health and of course her mind and memory are sharper than a razorblade. She is the mother of 10 children, 19 grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren and in November 2020 she welcomed her great great grandson Lucas into the family. Mrs. Aulsberry would really put you to shame with her memory and she can still recite all the poems she learned in school. She is the last surviving member of the Murray family who lived at Matthews Cross and some of you may remember her father Willie Murray who was a great wordsmith and wrote many poems about local events. One of his most well-known poems was The Curraghamore Fox. Nancy must have inherited her father’s talent because she also liked to write poems and in fact when she was just 10 years old, she won a poetry competition and netted the grand sum of sixpence. Her family have very kindly given me permission to share this poem with you all. I know the Christmas season has passed but a good poem is a good poem any time of the year. We hope Nancy continues to enjoy good health and happiness.

BABY’S CHRISTMAS STOCKING

Hang up the baby’s stocking
And be sure and don’t forget
This dear little dimpled darling
Has never seen Christmas yet
I told her all about it
And she opened her bright, blue eyes
And I’m sure she understood it
She looked so funny and wise
I know what I’ll do for the baby
I thought of a first right plan
To borrow a stocking from Grandma
The longest one I can
And write a letter to Santa
And pin it on the toe
Saying “this is our baby’s stocking,
She’s our little pet you know”

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

When you see something beautiful in someone,
Tell them
It may take seconds to say
But for them it could last a lifetime

GOODBYE TO FR. O HALLORAN

We were all very saddened at the weekend when our Parish Priest Fr. Richard O Halloran informed us that he is being relocated to the parish of Tramore. Although he has been with us for the past seven years we hoped that he might be here for another few years but that was not meant to be. Fr. Richard has given 100% dedication and commitment to our parish since he arrived. His dedication really shone through during Covid times when he ensured the parish could still be together through prayer. Through the Facebook page we shared mass, the Angelus, prayer and reflection. There is no doubt that Fr. Richard has left a lasting impression on our parish and I know that he has been a wonderful, caring and helpful friend to Fr. Mick and he shall miss him very much. The only comfort we take is that he hasn’t moved too far away and so we will hopefully meet him from time to time. We wish him the very best in his new position, our loss is most definitely Tramore’s gain as they welcome a loyal, prayerful, kind man. So take care of him as he is very special to us.

QUOTE OF THE WEEK

Life is all about balance
You don’t always need to be
Getting stuff done.
Sometimes it’s perfectly ok
And absolutely necessary
To shut down, kick back
And do nothing.

TEAM BUILDING

Local lady Fiona Crotty Laffan was recently appointed Manager of the U14 Waterford Ladies Football team and with such a vast amount of experience she will be a wonderful asset for the girls. Last weekend she had the girls in action with a team building day at the Dunhill GAA grounds and were delighted to be given the chance to use their fabulous newly renovated facilities. After some fun team building games, the girls enjoyed a delicious chicken curry lunch which was supplied and subsidized by Harneys Bar and Restaurant. A big thanks also to Gala in Kilmeaden for providing the last minute supplies. What a fantastic and fun way for all the girls to get to know each other as they come together as a team from clubs all over Waterford. We will be following this team with great interest.

HARTY CUP SUCCESS

De La Salle College have booked their place in the Harty Cup semi final following their 9 point win over Nenagh. De La Salle had a great game with some very impressive scores and great individual performances from the panel and from the bench. With players from many different clubs within the city and county and we here wish the very best of luck to local man Rory Dobbyn who represents Ballyduff Lower as part of the panel and of course to the Manager of this team Dermot Dooley. De La Salle now prepare to meet Clare outfit St. Joseph’s Tulla in the next couple of weeks.

MOUNT CONGREVE

Work is well under way restoring and refurbishing the beautiful Mount Congreve house. The stunning gardens have been open for many years now for the public to enjoy at different times of the year but the house was not accessible. The restoration work is moving along smoothly and will include a new visitor centre with a cafe and retail space. This will only enhance the visitors’ experience of the house and gardens. The garden is home to an extensive collection of plants, shrubs and trees including rhododendrons, magnolias, camellias and flora from every continent in the world. Keep up to date with opening hours and photos and information about the house and garden by checking out their website and Facebook page. I can guarantee that the photos of the beautiful plants and flowers will brighten your day and bring a smile to your face.

THOUGHT FOR THE WEEK

Bring love wherever you go
Shine light wherever it’s dark
Leave blessings, wherever you’ve been
Be kind wherever you are

Recent Death, Back to School and Activities Resume

RECENT DEATH

We were all very saddened to hear of the death of Billy Hovenden, Ross. Billy was a quiet gentleman who was very interesting to talk to and had a fantastic knowledge of the area around him and times gone past. He had a great love of the land and machinery and enjoyed a chat and a drink on Sunday nights in Haughtons. It was there that I got to know Billy as I would arrive to collect my other half, Billy would pat the seat beside him and say “sit down there for a chat, the rest of them are only shouting”. I loved our chats as he would tell me of bygone days. He was also a great family man and enjoyed watching his daughters grow up and start their own careers and lives. Billy is survived by his wife Eleanor, his daughters Hillary and Vivienne, his sister Kay, brother Bobby, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends. His funeral mass took place in The All Saints Church, Newtown followed by cremation to the Island Crematorium, Ringaskiddy, Cork. May his gentle soul rest in peace.

All the young people in our community have now returned to school following the Christmas break and we hope that they all remain safe and well while they are there. We have every confidence in the school management that they will meet all the restrictions placed in front of them and we know that our children’s safety is their top priority. We wish all our young people the very best for the term ahead and hope that they get to enjoy some little bit of normality soon.

Christmas Masses, Recent Engagement and Christmas Wishes

Christmas Masses.

Our church always looks very beautiful but it is most certainly breathtaking decorated for the Christmas season, the glistening of the lights on the Christmas tree, the poster depicting the Nativity scene, the serenity of the crib, glorious flower and candle arrangements and counting us down into the season A A. E our beautiful Advent wreath. All these things do not just appear by chance so a huge word of thanks to all the volunteers who give their time and creativity to making sure our church looks so wonderful. A big word of thanks must go however go to our sacristan Ann Nolan who week after week tends to our church as if it was her own home. She takes care of all the daily and weekly needs and has everything in place for every ceremony. We are all very grateful to her for her devotion and dedication to the church.
Please God many of you will be able to welcome family home for Christmas and so masses have been spread out over Christmas week, to ensure that everyone is kept safe and all restrictions are followed. Christmas Wedding.

The Majestic Hotel in Tramore was the venue chosen for the beautiful wedding of Sally O Brien and Michael Power. This happy couple were determined to have their special day and so despite all the obstacles put in front of them because of Covid and having to cancel their plans several times, they finally got to gather their family and friends together to watch them exchange their wedding vows. Sally is a native Ballyduff girl and is the daughter of the famous Tommy and Mary O Brien while Michael hails from the Fantastic Fenor. This lovely couple have been sweethearts since their teen years and so their wedding day was very special to them and also to their daughter Ruby who celebrated her 12th birthday the day before. I got to have a sneaky look at a few photos from the day and everyone looked so beautiful and handsome with Sally’s parents Tommy and Mary looking like Hollywood stars. We wish this happy couple all the love and happiness that life has to offer and may they and daughter Ruby have a wonderful happy life together.

Recent Engagement

Another young couple have taken that all important step towards marriage by announcing their engagement. Local man Gary Flynn from Adamstown asked that all important question to his girlfriend Yvonne Power from Tramore . This happy couple have also been sweethearts for a number of years and I know that their families are delighted to hear their great news and are looking forward to their plans for the future. We wish them all the very best and wish them a long and happy future together.

Tom Power Ardeenlone

You may remember me telling you about the death of Tom Power from Ardeenlone last week and how he and his family were a very important part of our community and parish life. I was delighted to receive some more information about Tom and I wanted to share it with you. Tom was born on December 1st 1930 to his parents Michael Joe Power and Agnes Queally. He was baptised in Ballyduff Church on the same day he was born and this began his lifelong devotion to his church and parish. He lived a happy life in Ardeenlone with his siblings Mary Jo, Cathy, Philly, Michael, William and Peter . He had a great love of the land and farmed all his life with Philly and his brothers, always loving to have good cattle. As I have mentioned before the Power family were wonderful people to attend mass and never missed a funeral. Tom and his brothers loved Gaelic games and would often speak of the great Waterford teams of the 40’s, 50’s and 60’s. Tom also liked a pint or two in Haughtons and in Louis Dunne’s in later times. Tom was also a lovely singer and when he got his copy of the Irelands Own he would give a song or two. Tom is the last of the Power family of Ardeenlone but they will never be forgotten.
As I arrived at mass last week Fr. Mick called me into the sacristy to show me the wonderful photo, The Power family had gifted to the church. This is a photo of Fr. Tom Hearne who was a granduncle of the Powers and was priest here for many years. He was also the man who had the bell tower built in our church. This is a fantastic photo to have especially since our church will next year celebrate its 200th birthday. It will be proudly displayed for all to see.

Christmas Wishes

As this will be the final publication before Christmas I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a very happy and peaceful Christmas. I know it has been a very strange and hard year but we should bring to the forefront of our minds all the good things in our lives. We have much to be grateful for and this year has shown us all that tomorrow is not promised to any of us and that being kind and receiving kindness in return is wonderful. I count myself very lucky always to be surrounded by a fantastic family, wonderful friends and I have never made any secret of the fact that I love my community and where I live. I am always aware that I am one of the fortunate ones and that there are many who dread the arrival of Christmas because it brings back painful memories of loss, worry, stress and much more. I ask you all to do your best to be that glimmer of light in people’s lives, pick up the phone and make that call or send that text that you keep meaning to do, bake that cake and drop it around, open your heart and listen. See the beauty and wonder of the season in your children’s and grandchildren’s eyes, smile and receive smiles, love and receive love and above all give yourself a break, don’t be hard on yourself, you are allowed to smile and be happy and you are allowed to let those tears flow if you want, you won’t be the only one.
I thank all the contributors to these notes and look forward to working with you all again in 2022. Thank you all for all the lovely comments I receive and if you wish to have something put in the notes or want to pass on any ideas or if you just fancy contacting me then you can on 087-9838392 or spillanelinda2017@gmail.com
May you never be too grown up to search the skies on Christmas Eve

Recent Wedding, Shop Local and Gala Decade

Death of Tom Power

It really was the end of an era this week when the last of the Power family of Ardeenlone passed away. Tom Power was most certainly a true gentleman who lived his life quietly and peacefully in the company of his siblings. They farmed the family farm and enjoyed keeping up with local happenings by reading the local newspapers and listening to the radio. Tom was predeceased by his siblings. I had the pleasure of visiting the Power home on occasion and I must say it was a wonderful experience. You were made so welcome and before you knew it hours would have passed. They had very interesting stories to tell and were genuinely eager to hear about what was going on in the parish. They had a fantastic faith and were great supporters of our parish church. Tom has left this world but he will never be forgotten. He is now reunited with his family and that should bring great comfort to his family and friends. We hope that he now enjoys the peace and love of Christ. Tom’s funeral mass and burial took place in St. Nicholas Church in Ballyduff. May he rest in gentle peace. We extend our deepest sympathy to all his cousins, relatives and friends.

Death of Joan Hallissey

We extend our deepest sympathy to Eithne Brennan, Adamstown and Carmel Nugent, Matthews Cross on the recent death of their mother. Joan Hallisey (nee Kiely) was born and reared in Stradbally but spent her married life in William Street, Portlaw. She is predeceased by her husband Watt. Joan spent the past few years in the care of the staff at the Mooncoin Residential Care Centre where she passed away in her 103rd year. Joan is survived by her daughters Eithne, Mary and Carmel, son David, sons-in-law Danny, Pat and Paul, daughter-in-law Eleanor, her grandchildren and great grandchildren, her sisters Ita, Kitty and Susan, her nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. .Joan’s funeral mass and burial took place in St. Patrick’s Church Portlaw. May she rest in peace.

Recent Wedding

St. Nicholas’s Church in Ballyduff was the setting recently for a most beautiful wedding. Local lady Danielle Keogh said I do to her Prince Charming Raymond Ryan. This lovely couple have been sweethearts for a number of years and have made a beautiful home for themselves and their family. The two most important guests on the day were of course their beautiful children Erica and Freddie. We wish this happy little family every good wish and hope that their future is full of happiness and love. We know that their families are very proud of them both and that they will always have the support of two fantastic families.

Shop Local

There has been a lot of emphasis lately about shopping local and anyone who knows me will know that I have been a huge advocate of this for many years. Our local shops and businesses have really pulled out the stops for Christmas and have a wonderful selection of gift ideas or gift vouchers. Remember these are the businesses we turn to when we need sponsorship or spot prizes. These businesses also did their very best to keep us supplied and cared for during bad weather and Covid. If you can at all visit these businesses and see what great offers they have. Shopping locally means local jobs and a vibrant thriving community.

Gala Decade

A big congratulations to Damien and Majella Hennessy and all at Gala Kilmeaden who recently celebrated ten years in Kilmeaden. Ten years ago they spotted the great potential here in Kilmeaden and set up their portacabin in the grounds of Glanbia selling petrol and diesel and now operate from their fantastic forecourt on their site. They have expanded the business greatly over the years and are now a very busy spot. Damien and Majella have always been great supporters of the community from sponsoring jerseys to helping out local charity events. They also employ many local people in their premises and also for any building or maintenance work they have. We wish them continued success and thank them for choosing Kilmeaden.

Our recently formed camogie club held their AGM and all there agreed that it has been a very successful year. It is wonderful to see 50 girls registered with the club and the next few years look very bright. The outgoing officers did a brilliant job and were returned for the coming year. The chairperson is Tim Counihan, Vice Chairperson is Dermot Dooley, Secretary is Michelle O Donoghue and Treasurer is Mary Griffin. We wish the committee and the club the very best of luck for the coming year.

Church News

The 3rd Sunday of Advent has always been known as Gaudate Sunday. This means Rejoice and has for many years been the day when the children of Rome bring the figurines of Baby Jesus from their family cribs to St. Peter’s Square to be blessed by the Pope during the Angelus. In celebrating the tradition of Bambinelli Sunday as it is affectionately known as, we are invited to bring our figures of Jesus to our weekend masses on the weekend of December 12th where they will be blessed.
If you are making family plans for the festive season and would like to know the mass times around the season I have been given the list and can let you have a sneaky preview. Some extra masses have been added to protect everyone and cater for all.

First sign of Christmas

As a child I knew that the Sunday I entered my church and saw the Advent wreath sitting beautifully beside the altar then we were on the countdown. We only had a short time to make sure we got ourselves on to that good list. I have a little bit more of an adult view of the wreath now but it is always a reminder of how fast the days go by. The Advent wreath is a wonderful tradition and I really think it is a beautiful reminder of the season of Christmas

In the Diocese of Waterford and Lismore in the southeast of Ireland, Ballyduff and Kilmeaden are about 23 miles from Dungarvan and 5 miles from Waterford.
